The 4th of July
We were originally planning on heading home for the 4th of July but we ended up staying in Austin. Taner's dad's birthday is on the 4th--past holidays have been spent with family, fireworks, and slip and slides. The 4th of July has always been a day we have both looked forward to. We knew we wanted our day in Austin to be just as fun as it has previous years. This year did not dissapoint.
Our friend Pete decided to join a corn dog eating contest on the morning of the 4th. Did you know it is easier to eat corn dogs quickly if they are dipped in water? Or that you should stand and wiggle around so you can digest your food quicker? Me neither. Pete ended up eating nine corn dogs in eight minutes and left the competition as the second place winner.
We then spent the evening racing scooters (I won!) and enjoying fireworks and drinks with friends. I think the 4th of July is quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays.
