We're Back

We did it. Two weeks, eight states, one of the best trips I've ever been on.

A few weeks ago, Taner and I took a 6am flight to Missoula, Montana where we rented a car and headed to our first stop on our road trip, Glacier National Park.

We stopped for camp essentials and made it just in time to get a back country camping permit. We decided to camp at Lower Quartz by Bowman lake.

We drove to the trail head, situated our bags, and started on our hike to our campsite. At this point, we had been up for over 18 hours. It was raining and cold and Taner and I both had on very heavy backpacks. We knew our hike was just under 4 miles but had no idea we would also be going up 1200 ft in elevation. It was tiring.

Our first night was the hardest night of the trip--trying to sleep when you are cold and wet isn't very fun. That said, Glacier was incredible. We hiked to Avalanche Lake (one of the most picturesque places I've ever been), had beers outside surrounded by mountains, and were cold for the first time since leaving Chicago nine months ago. I can't wait to go back.
